Opening of Georgia Resource Center for Special Needs Parents

Douglas County parents of special needs children now have a place to get advice and training materials to help with their children’s education.

The Parent Resource Center held its grand opening Wednesday at the Winston Elementary School on U.S. Highway 78. The resource center is located behind the school in a gray mobile classroom with a ramp.

“This facility will be available for all Douglas County parents who have special needs children,” said Renee Davis, parent mentor, who will staff the office Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m when school reopens Aug. 4. “We’ll also be available for use by parents of home school and private school students who have disabilities.”
